Excel. It provides an information bridge between Excel and an Oracle Financial Analyzer (OFA) database.
ClearView exists first and foremost to support the Excel user. ClearView is an enabler between the Excel
user and the database, handling the details of data retrieval and submission.
With ClearView, Excel and Excel functionality remain center stage. The database remains in the
background. Productivity revolves around business concepts, not database connectivity and access
issues.
To make life easier for the Excel user, ClearView has at its core features such as:
- WYSIWYG – place any OFA data into any cell, and intersperse OFA data with Excel calculations.
Use Excel to modify and control the queries to do universal refreshes.
- Simplified report construction and maintenance – insert new rows and columns of OFA data in
existing reports without having to redo the query or reformat, all within Excel.
- Intelligent report expansion – expand pages out to individual worksheets keeping the formatting
of the top sheet. Refresh data in all worksheets “in-place” without recreating the queries or
reformatting the reports.
- Report management – put multiple reports in a single workbook – even an entire set of monthly
financials.
- Offline reports – convert reports to data only (no query formulas) for regular Excel users,
published reports, or work during travel when there is no connectivity.
- Performance options – use bulk data retrieval to refresh all cells in a worksheet in one call to
speed performance in remote sites.
- Forecasting and Budgeting – create data collection and write back templates with no coding.
Monitor OFA tasks from within Excel.
- OLAP Analytics – the standards like Rotate, Select and Drill are the starting points. Data can be
copied/pasted so the same data is analyzed different ways in the same sheet, independently of the
calculations in the database. These local metrics are preserved when the data is refreshed.
- Complete hierarchy listings – ClearView will generate a drillable listing of any hierarchy right in an
Excel worksheet.
- API – sample ClearView calls are provided so features such as refreshing ranges or submitting data
can be built into local applications.
